inner child work that makes you feel good

Inner Child Work That Actually Makes You Feel Lighter: From Mind to Senses

January 09, 2026•2 min read

If you've done some inner child work in the past, this is for you!

I was thinking about inner child work today because so many of us have already done it in one way or another...through therapy, others through hypnosis or else but our day-to-day still feels heavy. Why? Shouldn't we feel more light and joyful once we processed the trauma?

Inner child refers to a part of your psyche that holds memories, emotions, needs and vulnerabilities from your childhood. It can bring a lot of clarity about our adult life.

Can we agree...the whole point of healing the past is to feel more alive now. We want to feel more spark in the small moments. And we want to feel softer in the middle of a busy day instead of carrying the same emotional weight everywhere.

What I see is that inner child work has slowly become something we do with our mind. We analyse it. We make sense of it. We talk about it. We reflect on it. But when we were children, none of this happened in our mind. Everything came through the senses. Colour, play, movement, mess, curiosity. It was all physical and immediate.

So when we try to approach this work only from an intellectual angle, it makes sense on paper, but it does not shift how we feel in our actual life.

I shared what i think the solution is on Instagram along with a glimpse of what this looks like in practice. If you have been doing the work but your life still feels a bit flat, this will make things click.

Have a look, it's a 1 min read!

Alongside my academic journey, I started dancing in nightclubs in my teens - sensuality always felt natural to me. I spent 15 years performing internationally as a stage dancer, pole dancer, and stripper. I learned to own my sensuality, embody presence, and trust the language of the body.
In my 30s, I founded and led a Canadian charity as Executive Director, securing over $2 million in funding and growing it into an annual turnover of $500,000. The charity continues to operate today, delivering long-term impact for marginalised communities.
My most recent leadership role was as Managing Director of a London-based social enterprise.
I have received more than 8 international awards for my work, including the King’s Award, presented at Windsor Castle by His Majesty King Charles III, and the Innovation Award received at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris.
